Author Guidelines

1. The manuscript must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or OpenOffice (.odt) format, single-spaced, in 12-point Arial font, and without page numbers.
2. The manuscript submitted initially does not include author identification anywhere in the document, including in the document properties, data sources, tables, maps, or as easily identifiable bibliographic references.
3. All supplementary files with graphs, tables, maps, and other illustrations must be in editable format and identified (numbered) in the same way as in the text, as per the instructions (if you are unsure whether the file is editable, please consult the Journal team).
4. All images used in the manuscript must be submitted as high-resolution files within the OJS system in PNG format, with the file name, for example: figura_01.png.
5. The manuscript complies with all formatting standards, as per the instructions. All authors must be notified within the platform with mandatory information: Lattes CV link, ORCID, email, Institution/Affiliation, and Biography Summary.
6. The abstract must contain up to 250 words and must be in two languages ​​(Portuguese and English, which must be accurate translations and not versions of the abstract in the original language).
7. The title and keywords must be provided in two languages, the primary language of the manuscript and English (if the manuscript is in English, please provide the language in Portuguese).
8. The Open Science Compliance Form must be submitted with the manuscript.
9. The manuscript submission letter must be submitted with the article.
10. The manuscript submission letter (in Google Docs), which can also be downloaded as a .doc or .odt file, must be submitted along with the article.
11. The Biographical Summary for each author must be completed at the time of submission.

These conditions must be confirmed. To avoid delays or rejections, please ensure you comply with these guidelines (do not confirm if you have not complied with them, as this will result in rejection).

Types of submissions allowed

The Vozes dos Vales Journal accepts contributions in several categories. Authors should classify their manuscripts in one of the following sections upon submission:

• Research Article: A text presenting unpublished results of original research, whether empirical or theoretical.
• Review Article: A critical and systematic analysis of the scientific literature on a specific topic, assessing the state of the art and identifying gaps or trends.
• Retraction: Public notification of the invalidation of a previously published article, detailing the reasons (such as significant errors or misconduct) that compromise the reliability of the work.

Author Guidelines for Manuscript Preparation

Abstract

The abstract must be prepared in accordance with NBR 6028, meeting the following requirements:

• Format: Single paragraph.
• Length: Maximum 250 words.
• Content: Must concisely present the objective, methodology, results, and conclusions of the work.
• Style: The text must be written in the active voice and in the third person singular.

Keywords

Number: Enter three (3) to five (5) keywords.

• Selection: They should reflect the main topics of the text. It is recommended to avoid repeating terms already present in the manuscript title in order to optimize indexing.
• Format: The section title (Keywords:) should be in bold. Terms should be separated by a semicolon (;). The last keyword should be followed by a period (.).
• Restrictions: Avoid using symbols, contractions, and formulas that are not commonly used or strictly necessary.

Example: Keywords: Education; Technology; Open Access.

Manuscript Submission Guidelines

1. Format and Anonymity

The manuscript must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) or OpenOffice (.odt), using one of the templates [link].

To ensure the double-blind peer review process, the file must not contain any author identification, either in the body of the text or in the document properties (metadata).

2. Manuscript Structure

The main file should contain: Title, Abstract, Keywords, body of the text (introduction, body, conclusion), and References.

3. In-Text Citations (ABNT NBR 10520:2023)

• Author-Date System: The call must follow the pattern (AUTHOR, date, p. X).

  • ABNT 2023 Update: When the authorship is within the parentheses, it should NOT be written in CAPITAL letters.

    • Exemplos: (Marques, 2025) ou (Marques; Maculan; Souza, 2025; Marques et al., 2025).

  • When the author is part of the sentence (running text), the spelling is in capital letters and lowercase letters..

    • Exemplo: Segundo Marques (2020)...

• Short Direct Quote (up to 3 lines): Must be included within the paragraph, enclosed in double quotation marks. Single quotation marks are used for citations within citations.

• Long Direct Quote (more than 3 lines): Must be highlighted in a new paragraph, indented 4 cm from the left margin, in a font size smaller than the main text and single-spaced, without the use of quotation marks.

4. Tables, Charts and Graphic Elements (Figures, Maps, Graphs)

• In the Text: They must be inserted in the body of the text, in the approximate location where they should appear in the final publication.

• Identification: They must have consecutive and independent numbering (e.g., Table 1, Chart 1, Figure 1). The title must be positioned at the top, clearly identifying its content (variables, location, date).

• Source: The source of the data (according to ABNT NBR 6023) must be indicated at the bottom.

  • If the data was collected or prepared by the authors, the primary source must be indicated (e.g.: Source: IBGE (2020)) and not "Prepared by the authors".

  • Notes on adaptations or authorizations for reproduction must appear below the source.

• Supplementary Files (Important): All elements (including Tables and Charts) must be sent additionally as supplementary files in high-resolution .jpg format.

5. References (ABNT NBR 6023:2018)

References should be listed at the end of the article, in alphabetical order. They should be aligned to the left margin, single-spaced, and separated by a blank line (single-spaced).
